Environment Agency awards £8.8m+ asset maintenance planning software contract

The Environment Agency has awarded a contract to upgrade its asset maintenance planning software worth an estimated £8.8+ million.

The Agency was seeking to upgrade the functionality of the core suite of its Asset Information Management System (AIMS) applications. The AIMS, which comprises several functional components, has been developed primarily to fulfil the Agency’s business needs in Flood and Coastal Risk Management.

In addition to the primary goal of the AIMS Upgrade project to replace the current asset maintenance planning elements, the Agency also has a wider goal to implement a new overall Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) solution. This would see rationalisation of AIMS:Inventory, and other components such as CMMS and Mobile applications, thereby resolving the convoluted integration currently in place.

Bristol-based firm AMX Solutions Ltd has been awarded the contract, one of four companies who bid for the work.
